Two families, one block, two completely independent homes. The duplex steps back from the street in concrete-banded volumes, with steel-framed glazing, a lift shaft in each residence and acoustic separation engineered well past code. Both homes were priced and contracted separately, fixed, before demolition began.

Seacombe Duplex

Behind an untouched heritage frontage, this extension adds a gabled living pavilion in recycled red brick with hit-and-miss coursing, a plywood-lined kitchen and a concealed stair. The new work reads as a garden building rather than an addition, and every brick was salvaged from the demolished lean-to it replaced.

Brickfield House
